1.
Oz' looked over at me,
he didn't have to say a word.
The young lady was clearly
in trouble
and Boelcke
was not about to watch her get
slap again.
"I think you've had enough
for one evening"
Oz' said to the attacker
"leave her alone and
I'll let you walk out of here
in one piece."
I didn't understand French
too well,
but it was clear
she was grateful for
the intervention.
The attacker grab her by the neck
he said
"What's your problem flyboy?"
Boelcke didn't wait to answer
He launched at the attacker
with full force
Os' was clearly out of his league
The attacker swung him into
the pub floor with one hand
and proceeded to pound Oswald Boelcke
like a punching bag.
I step in with
the only option I had,
a lovely bottle
of Lafite Rothschild '87.
"Whack!"
The bottle exploded
on the man's Neanderthal head
He drop like a sack of potatoes
"Why thankyou Manfred"
Os' said nasally,
with blood pouring
out of his nose.
"My friend,
anything in the service
of an honorable man."
I reached down
and pulled Boelcke off the
pub floor.
The young lady was completely
in tears
kissing Boelcke's face
The pub was cheering Os'
for his heroic antics
apparently,
this guy
had been the local brute
for a while.
2.
I think I had
a little too much
to drink
Candide's eyes were shining
brilliant green
We dance as the band played on
hoping to hold
this moment
forever
The ballroom was hot
with people
"Manfred,
why do fly?"
Candide inquired
I pulled her closer
and whisper in her ear
"The same reason
I love you
you're my life."
I kissed her
"Please,
don't fly
Manfred"
3.
I love looking
at Candide's face
in the morning light
she is a particuliarly beautiful
woman
I love to watch
her breath
in
and
out
She has a classic face
right off a Greek statue
I still question
how did I get to be
with her
I put my uniform on
it's still dark outside
I try to be quite
and
let her sleep
a staff car is heading over
to pick me up
"Hey Manfred?"
she says with her eyes closed
still lying in bed
"You know,
I love you
right?"
"Yeah,
I know Candy,
and I love you too"
I lean over
and kiss her
She holds onto me
tightly
"I have to go"
I open the door
to the cold air
"Goodluck Manfred"
4.
Immelmann loved his cars
He took the city streets
like it was his own
personnel property
"Slow down Max!
Hey!
do you hear me?"
Max was a little too
into himself
He gets too
lost in the moment
"Manfred
my friend,
Speed is life!
We need
to go faster!"
The tires grip
the wet streets
of Berlin
"Technology is the answer,
We have to go faster
We have to be smarter
and build it all cheaper!"
Immelmann
dump the clutch
into second gear
exploding fuel in the pistons
pushing me back into my seat
"Hammer down!"
"Man!
Immelmann
Slowdown!"
I couldn't help
myself from laughing
"Your nuts Max!"
Immelmann look at me
"There's an answer
in this gear box!
I just know its'
got to be
in there,
somewhere,
The answers
in here,
It's in here,
Manfred"
The car's engine
was winding out
he push
the front end
we hit the curb
It was scary!
"Do you like to ski
Manfred?"
5.
Candide cut across the morning fog
her horse knew the path
as if it cantered it a thousand times
I love my horse
I love everything about her
I feel ancient
when I ride her
Candide was coming up
to the edge of the field
You could feel the rain start
Candide looks back
and she smiles
Her face tells me
the story
Candide's horse picks up the pace
they're heading for the forest
the rain is coming down,
hard!
"Hurry Manfred!"
"Yeow!"
It's raining!"
6.
Man my head hurts!
It's got to be
those bodies
I just can't think
anymore.
What's going on?
Can you smell it?
Death in the air
in the water
in the mud.
Why can't I remember?
I have a duty,
an honor
to perform,
a job
to do.
They want me to stop
and their concern
is well earned
But I must fly
My head,
hurts,
so bad.
Why can't I remember?
The bodies
stacked up like wood
I get disgusted
I have changed
this isn't
the same world
that I started
My confidence
is tilted
My prayers
are weak
My faith
has been jilted
My life
at a peek
But still,
why can't
I remember?
3.
Oswald's plane
dumps into a barrowroll
and pushes down invertedly
picking up speed
the sun was behind us
they didn't hear a thing
we were so high above them
This machine
it's perfect
Immelman was right
"Go Os!"
The plane rip the wind
It was a mad rush down
I was charged up
The Engine 'winds out'
"Steady"
"Steady"
I chanted to myself
The Englishmen senses us in the Sun
and breaks!
"I have you!"
The plane flies perfect
it is the best one yet
"Steady"
I pull the trigger
"Wrack!"
shouts the gun
Time slows as the bullet stream
cuts the plane in half
The pilot looks at me
I see his eyes
The plane explodes
"Holy Shit!"
"Wow!"
